Goodbye My Coney Island Baby

I had a whole long entry planned for these pictures. There are a ton more pics in the set. But I've put it off and put it off and now it just seems like more fun to see some of the photos.

On the last weekend of the season Alita, Carmencita and I went to Coney Island. There is reason to believe that many of the attractions won't be back next year so we hit the beach, the rides and the side show. Next year I'm bringing everyone I know! I've never done all that stuff before and I do not know why.

I am so in love with both of these women. One of them eats fire.

  1. I JUST (and I mean JUST) heard an NPR piece about Coney Island:

The tattooed fire-eater was featured in the story - isn't it funny that you'd post a picture of her!

You have a beautiful photography style. I'm especially in love with the picture of the little girl (is she Alita or Carmencita?) through the looking glass....

    Hey Kizz,

Thanks for the pictures! That was truly a fun day. Coney Island is one of the many reasons that NYC is one of the greatest cities in the world; On top of everything else, you can go to the beach and see a side show, and your kid can ride a real old-fashioned carosel, too.

I'll never forget thre fire eater. Do you suppose she has a troop of fans that follow her to Florida in the winter and back to Coney Island in the summer? Sort of "fireheads" instead of "deadheads?"

Thanks to Sherry for the link to NPR. And to answer your question, "Alita" is my daughter in the pictures.
