This Day In History

There was that whole Bastille thing at that French prison, you know, where all those people, uh, revolted or something.

Kath & Alex got together. Either today or tomorrow, I think it's today, though. They started down the path to a love of music, food, and dogs...oh, yeah, and eachother, of course.

Another little voice started wailing and gnashing its teeth on the internet. Yes, three years ago today I started this little blog. It's named after the address in New York City where I did a lot of growing up. Notice how I smoothed right over the traditional linking to the first post? Yeah, I'm not using reverse psychology or anything, I really don't think you should go read it. It would require a few more rounds of vigorous revision in order to be upgraded to "completely devoid of interest". The one thing that's true in it and about it is that the most important thing is that I jumped in and started.

I still love blogging. I still don't get people who aren't hooked on it. I still think it's a weird habit and am somewhat embarrassed by it. You know, I'm embarrassed by a vast majority of the things in my life so blogging seems to be fitting in nicely.

I can't deny that it's been good to me, though. It's brought me old friends and new friends and without it I don't know when or how I would have found out that Jay died. It's helped me work some shit out and it's forced me (in a really loving way) to write consistently. Just write. Just do it. Stop whining. Which is good for me. It's easy for me to be lazy. The instant gratification (usually) of comments (nudge, nudge you lurkers out there) is a big motivator.

I think this week has been a pretty perfect blogiversary week. I did my 10 things on other bloggers (didn't plan it as a blogiversary thing, by the way), I got a Rocking Girl Blogger award from Chili (more on that later or tomorrow, I get to nominate 5 other rocking chicks!), the internet gave me a gift (yeah the news was shitty but the fact that I got it before the memorial was a huge gift), I got my camera back which means a new step for photography on the blog, and I did a whole bunch of quiz posts which are a big, nut covered ball of cheesy, bloggery goodness. Oh, and I'm sitting at home doing laundry and celebrating my blogiversary on a Saturday night. I'm so stereotypical that Aaron Sorkin might write a TV show episode about me. When he does, please make sure that he knows that I'm not eating a pint of ice cream and point out that I'm not blogging about my cat. No need to tell him that's because I'm on Weight Watchers and I'm having a fight with both of my cats. I mean, we can't just write the jokes for him.

Here are a couple of hot people to round out my appropriately know, lets call it varied, blogiversary post. Thanks for reading. Let me know what I can do to get you to comment too.

  1. Really, your question to me should be "what can I do to get you to shut the hell up?"

Congratulations on your blogiversary! Don't stop, okay? We love this spot just as much as you do.
