I'm writing this from home at 9:30 on a Wednesday morning and I'm not even using a vacation day to do it.
Thank you NYC MTA and your outdated infrastructure.
It's possible that other people might have seen the signs (the pouring rain, the flash flood warning, the sweeping out of water from my basement, the empty construction sites, the bumper to bumper traffic, the dog clinging to me as I was forced to shut the door in her face) and chosen to listen to a traffic report but not me!
I walked 20 minutes to the train, listened to the nice lady explain that all the trains were down, yes that one too, all of them, and that one, now look down here and see the water on the tracks, and then I walked 20 minutes back watching the leftover flooding turn into sauna steam.
So, I'm working from home today, in my scrubs and bare feet, watching TV. Ah, summer!
