I Will If You Will

I admit to all you people out there who count housekeeping among your top priorities that I do like it when my table is clean. When the dishwasher is empty, or in process of being filled rather than waiting to be emptied, it makes it somewhat easier to work in the kitchen.

I challenge you, however, to admit that some days it takes a Herculean effort bring your dishes to the sink and rinse them, that there are days when you just feel like Goldie Hawn in Overboard right before Kurt Russell dumps her in the rain barrel. Sometimes it's all one can do to simply sit in a chair and say "buh buh buh buh-buh buh buh buh buh" while someone dings peanuts off your cranium.

  1. I just watched that movie yesterday!! it's in my top five guilty pleasures. After this week with all it's craziness, I started picking up yesterday. I had an entire sink of catfood tins ready to be rinsed and taken outside to the recycle bin. an entire SINKFUL!!!!!

high five and i'm so there with ya sister.

I'm not a dirty or filthy person. I do like things clean, and picked up and neat. However, my mental stability is not riding on having it all done all the time. It happens when I make it happen. It works for me!

Messes don't last long around here. I've become almost as much a neat-freak as my honey, and she's pretty far gone.

As for mental stability, that's a separate topic.

  3. I've never seen that movie, but I think it may be time to sit and watch it with my kids...

As for kitchen messes, sometimes I just block it all out and then, EVERY surface in my kitchen gets filled with plates and glasses and mail and crap. When I do stay on top of it, things are lovely and my mind works better, but there are moments when I can use Hercules and all his Pantheonic pals to move my butt.

  4. I watched it too!!!!
We weren't on the same couch but we were so close!
    Love that.
    Can't resist the movie ever.

Y'all know now that I am a freak.
Even hung over as hell yesterday and wanting to vomick every single time I moved.
    I cleaned.
I wish I could be more... what ever is it... and not.
    But I cannot.
Ask Joe, I have had his liver with or without the side O' beans many a night for not pitching it with the chores every single day.

  5. I don't get the neatnik gene. There are no prizes for doing the dishes. It doesn't LAST! I mean, the second you're done you go and have a spoonful of frosting so you have another dish to wash. Gert, you and I would SO not be able to live together. You would hate me and I would be consumed by guilt.

Everyone should see Overboard. It might not teach you any lessons but it's a hell of a lot of fun.
