4. The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood by David Simon & Edward Burns (the book on which The Wire is based)

5. Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon (the book on which Homicide: Life on the Street is based)

6. Things I Learned About My Dad in Therapy edited by Heather Armstrong (that's Dooce, in case you don't know it already, so it's a blog thing)

7. Sleep is for the Weak: The Best of the Mommybloggers (another blog thing, wow, I promise that after spot 10 there's a bunch of stuff I didn't get recommended off the internet)
