Fuckin Floral Friday: Flailing Edition

My day today is brought to you by prior planning. When will I learn that it gets you nowhere?

I can't go into why my day looks like this but I assure you there are reasons and I think we can all agree that it's the least efficient schedule of all time.

6:30am Wake up in Brooklyn
10-11:30 Floor barre on the Upper West Side
2:00pm Ice cream friend date 3 blocks from the dance class
4:30 Hair cut in the far, far West part of Hell's Kitchen

I could bring my computer and get some good stuff done on that in the breaks but I'd have to carry it around for some long stretches where I'll be walking. I have phone calls and appointments to make and I can write longhand so the time won't be wasted but it will be, as today's title suggests, a masterpiece of flailing.

Oh, by the way, that photo is from Sunday. A number of gardens in the neighborhood have freshly blooming roses. It's bizarre but pretty and helps a little to offset the darkening of the days.

I took the original intent of FFF to be about sharing our agenda for the day. I could be wrong about it, only Seester can say, but in the spirit of my interpretation what are you up to this Fine Friday?

  1. My day looks like this;
    Pick up Chili's vac, clean house, return Chili's vac, pick up client,drive client to therapy, have lunch(?),go to jail, get out of jail,drive to office,see a client, do paperwork, drive to other office, drive in the general direction of home, buy a box of wine (really. it's what she wants), drive home, change outfit, go to 50th birthday party, drive home, go to bed.

    I am sure other stuff will happen during the day but I won't bore you with that..

  2. My day looks like this;

    Get two girls (who don't have school today) up and dressed and out the door by 7:00 a.m. anyway, drive to Dunkin Donuts to bribe said girls, teach an English class, meet with panicking students, drive to Punkin' parent-teacher meeting, drive home, use my returned vac, run at least two loads of laundry, get back in the car, drive to visit two sets grandparents, drive to Coastal City to have pizza with the O'Mama clan, then drive home and fall exhausted into bed. The plan for tomorrow involves lots of sleeping in and reading in bed.

  3. FFF Friday can be whatever you wish it to be. I think today should be a camera day. Easier to lug around than a laptop. Think of the freedom a couple of hours with a lens - the time will fly.

    My day? Ha ha, well, it is raining here. And I have a sick, phlegmy, coughing child at home. He's been to the doc already. I had planned on shopping with a friend, but I cannot leave him home alone. Perhaps I will use this gift of time at home to clean up. Shudder.

  4. I'm caffinating right now, which is most important. Then working. the Redhead is my first client so that will be fun. I've actually got great people coming in today, and perhaps will have time for a pedi this afternoon. I could climb a tree with my toenails. tonight I'm going to see Doubt at my local theatre, then home to get on the computer, feed the cats, fall into bed!
    Happy FFF!
    ps, I think the roses are democrats, who were just holding their breath and waiting to celebrate!

  5. I love the way roses give us one last flush of flowers before shutting down for the winter - at least in many climates.

    I agree with the camera idea - that's a great way to get ideas.

    I always meant to get one of those little voice recorders, but I be in reality I'd feel constrained about talking into something. Instead, I have some post-it pads I scribble on if I have an idea while out. Makes my purse look awfully ratty.

  6. Only in New York - the city has warm roots!

    My day is half done - but I did help roust girls out of bed, sat in chair like lump while husband hustled them through breakfast and out the door at 7, sat and had coffee, exercised for 35 minutes while listening to NPR, took photos to post, cleaned and did 2 loads of laundry, finished final edits on book we're about to publish, and soon my kids will come home from school. Later, after making kids sort through the clothes they have grown out of, we're meeting up with Chili and the girls at coastal city's fabulous flatbread. Productive day, mostly.
    Have a great weekend!
