Quick Informal Poll

I did see Milk today. It was, predictably, fabulous and I will post something over at PPP as soon as possible about it. After the movie one of my friends and I pondered whether the movie is going to get full national exposure. Certainly polling the readers of this blog (liberal pinko commies every one of you YAY!) isn't a scientific sampling but will you let me know in the comments section if, to your knowledge, Milk will be playing near you. I'm also willing to take hearsay about places you don't live but where you know people.

Thanks!

Don't know for sure but the local paper had a letter that said that the owner of Cinemark gave $9, 999.00 to support prop 8 in California. If that proves to be true, go see "Milk" at a local indie movie center instead of the Cinemark.

I'm not up for chasing this down but it might carry some weight. Hard telling, not knowing. What ever was wrong with the first version, "The Life and Times of Harvey Milk"? Yeah, I'm that old. I doubt I'll see the Sean Penn (is that the star of this one ?) version.

  2. Well, if he gave a chunk of money to support Prop 8 I'm betting he won't be distributing Milk in his theatres.

One movie is a documentary and one isn't so it's apples and oranges isn't it? I just put the doc on my Netflix list so I can't say from first hand experience yet. The theatre I went to was selling DVDs of the documentary at their concession stand. I don't know this for sure but I'm willing to bet that putting out a DVD version of the documentary at the same time as distribution of the bigger Hollywood flick will draw more attention to the movement, to Harvey & to the documentary. Seems like Harvey would have liked that for a number of reasons.

I bet it'll show at the University theatre.
