I did it! I'm all caught up with my photos. I love to get a task completed, even if it's something unnecessary like this. There's a whole series of shots of my cat the cutter, don't check that out until you've finished your meal.

I find the headless straw woman hugging the tree to be a bit disturbing. Exactly what kind of neighborhood do you live in, anyway?
ReplyDeleteI think it's hilarious what a knee jerk reaction you have to photography. If you look up in the top right hand corner of the photo you can see her forehead peeking around the other side of the tree. If one hugs a tree (or a pole or a person) one has to choose a side for one's head. I just happened to shoot it from the non-head side because I liked the elbow and the light was better. I live in a neighborhood of lower middle class people who have lived here forever and self-important young people waiting to turn their apartments over for a big profit. And then a small smattering of people like me who liked the joint before the youngsters showed up and don't intend to sell our apartments or have kids or do anything differently than we did when we arrived.
ReplyDeleteWait! So it really IS a straw woman hugging a tree?!
ReplyDeleteYes. If you click through to Flickr and look at all the photos you'll see more of the installation and it will make more sense.
ReplyDeleteI woke up with a cheezy song called 'Just Dance' by Lady Gaga. It's still in my head. I love that sign! How long was it posted on the door?
ReplyDeleteIt was posted on all the doors in my side of the complex. I don't know how long it survived. 2 or 3 days maybe. Made me tear up every time.
