From yesterday:
1. Research indicates that all Starbucks locations have reduced their seating by about 33%. I can only assume that this is to increase their turnover. On a rainy day this is an act of aggression against the common people who have no office in which to stay dry between jobs.
2. We all, every one of us, needs to have an overhead projector at our disposal. A collection of interesting and colorful objects to go with it wouldn't be bad either.

Like Starbucks needs to make MORE money?? Like charging $4 for 32 cents worth of latte isn't enough? Jayzuz.
ReplyDeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteThis has nothing to do with this post, but I can't find your email or a way to contact you. Zelda told me you are heading to Portland. The Japanese Gardens are a must. The most amazing place ever. The peanut butter, chocolate chip pancakes at Isabel's are awesome ( I think you can google Isabel's also Paradox for a wonderful all veg menu -- We ate there twice). Cupcakes from Cupcake Jones. Also, if you get a chance to eat at a food cart, do it. They are awesome! You probably won't find it near as thrilling as Chris and I did because you already know the wonders of Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and public transportation. Powell's Book store is another must. It's HUGE and full of used and new books. The smell of the place alone is worth it. Stumptown for coffee (again google it). Ummm...so much stuff, not enough time! Enjoy.
Well, Starbucks doesn't really owe you anything.
ReplyDeleteIt's technically a private space and you have to admit that they have been mighty generous with their space in the past. It's about the only place you can hang out in all day and not get harassed. They may fall down on this new policy, but that's their call.
If you want to hang out all day and get free internet, we've got lots of libraries here. Not one on every block, mind you, but there ya go.

ReplyDeleteNo, they don't owe me anything but it does make them big, fat meanies. There is, to my knowledge, no library within 10 blocks of the school I was going to visit in Tribeca. I could be wrong but I don't think so. They used to have all that seating, and I paid for my time and cleaned up after myself, and then they yanked it out. Nobody likes a cock tease.
