What better way to kick off a month than by bursting into tears, right? It's NaBloPoMo and it's marathon Sunday and it's the first day of November. I walked the three blocks up to the raceway in time to catch the elite women sprinting by. I measure my progress in photography by my annual Paula Radcliffe photos. The moment I hit the course and hear the joyful freakish noise my neighborhood explodes in for every single runner I tear up. I can't help it. I don't run. I don't have any desire to but I am endlessly moved by the kind of brave and crazy that must be required for people to do this thing. Given what October was like (and even September) it only seemed right that I would stand my feet on my own turf, watch something contradictorily inspiring and cry a little. Hope you're kicking off this month in style, who knows what it will bring.

ReplyDeleteI got a little choked up when I saw this guy too. Unbelievable tenacity.
ReplyDeleteI teared up when I saw him, too....but started bawling my fool eyes out when the four police officers who had been stoically standing on the corner amidst the cheering broke out in applause as he passed.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just got teary again thinking about it.
