Johanna Flowerseed

At the wedding last month we had gorgeous place cards. They were hand stamped to indicate our choice of meal and the calligraphy was beautiful. As a bonus they were on seed paper. Have you seen this stuff? It has little wildflower seeds incorporated into the paper and the paper is, of course, biodegradable and bleach-free and all so you can just plant the card and get flowers.

You know, if you're not me.

Just noticed this morning that the succulent I've been trying to nurture in my bathroom (muggiest room in a deserty apartment) is turning black in one place and brown in others. No idea what I did.

I thought about it and figured that a. planting them in my own home would be cruel, b. people just throw seed bombs into empty lots and they grow so c. I should find a public way to give my place card back to the land.

The happy couple used to live in my neighborhood. That was, in fact, where they met. So I jumped a (very tiny) fence and planted my card in a spot I thought might stay relatively dog-pee-free and have a chance at survival. I dug a small hole, tossed it in, covered it and christened it with the last of the diluted vitamin water from my Kleen Kanteen.

I really hope I didn't kill it.

    Thank you Kizzbeth.

We planted the leftover placecard pieces in the mountain...If something comes up and blooms...and is not mistaken for a weed...post a pic...should emerge in 6 weeks.
