Many Chambered Heart

On this day 8 years ago I secured permission to leave my office job for a couple of hours to close on the buying of my home. Just a couple of hours, had to go back, didn't have enough personal days to waste one on the buying of my first home or anything. So I could write you a heartfelt post about buying dishwasher detergent and garbage bags and drinking champagne out of paper cups with my good friends in my empty new home.

Last night I attended Alita's holiday choral concert which included a reading of The Giving Tree. So alternatively I could write you a little something about music teachers past and present, the power of song and how I cried because Mr. D dressed up as Dominic the Donkey.

However, yesterday my friend, Wendi Aarons, wrote a post full of delectable holiday sundries. (Tell me, does your 7-year-old use air quotes when speaking of Mr. Claus?) In response to a different portion of the post I commented, "I posted an open letter to Mr. Beck the other day. Wish I could have it display with an ad for the cookbook. Two great tastes…" Lo and behold one of Wendi's loyal fans followed up with me. So, instead of posting something soft, squishy and full of the spirit of the season, I'm going to share the gift I received from this fan. It speaks to an entirely different (cold, black, wrathful) part of my heart.

And I think you're going to like it. (Well, not all of you.)
