Tick The Box

Audio Girl, more widely known as Mimi Ferraro, posted a piece today about sexual identity and cancer treatment. For years we sat across from each other in an office nearly every day talking about all things great and small. Reading this essay about her cancer experience made me miss her like crazy. Fortunately she just lives down the road. Do yourself a favor and click over to drink up her intelligent, thoughtful words.

  1. One of my Lesbian friends had put off going to a gynecologist until just recently. She didn't think it was necessary. That's a completely different rant. But the thing that made me the angriest was the way she was treated by the doctor. He was rude, abrupt, and told her that she should just have a full hysterectomy since she wasn't using them any way. I was so angry when she told me this story. She didn't report him. I got onto her for that, but still. Woman's health is woman's health regardless your sexual preference.

  2. Cindy, that makes me mad on so many levels. They're both devaluing her health and her body! And the doc, what a fantastic ambassador, working so hard to keep women coming back to the doctor and staying healthy. Jesus. GAH!!!!
