So, it turns out that the Fabulous Friend from this post was actually the Original Friend who had been asked to play the hymn. Technical difficulties had prevented him from being able to familiarize himself with the tune.
My way makes the whole thing sound more noble, though.
Oh well, the truth is a better idea, I know that. This is what I get for eavesdropping.
