Perhaps I Stubbed My Brain Instead

The minute I hit publish on the last post I remembered that Rena had told me two other stories, too, and they were both better to be paired with the battered toe incident than the preemie story.

The first one was when I told her about the mole removal on my back. She was careful to admonish me not to do this but she'd known someone when she was young who used to take a piece of string, wrap it around her moles and pop them right off. Ewe! When I explained that one of my moles had been "right in that spot where you can't reach to put a band aid on it" she responded, "Even with a ruler?"

That's a good idea. If I planned to shower today I'd be trying that out.

The other story is really for all you parents out there. She told me that when they were kids her mom would take her and Grammy Fern to the dentist. If you had to have work done it was $2 with novocaine and $1 without. Her mother would save money by having her own work done without novocaine so her kids could have the treatment with the meds. How much do you love your kids?

Tough stock, that's what I'm saying. I'm all watered down, though.

  1. I love my children to the ends of the earth, but you KNOW that I can't go to the dentist without first being sedated. I'd FOREGO dental work so my kids could have it, but if I NEEDED something done, I'd HAVE to have the drugs.

You're not watered down at all, babe. You're full strength, even if you don't realize it!

When I was a child my mom (dad died early) could not afford novocaine for our dental work. So we suffered. It made me avoid dentists for years. Finally, I have found a dentist whose work doesn't hurt me, and I don't mind going. Expensive.
