Quick Poll

A friend asked me, "So, do you ever have imaginary conversations with people, like...celebrities?"

I was honest, "Oh yeah, of course!"

Apparently she'd asked someone else and they never ever did.

So, you all tell me, do you ever have imaginary conversations with people, like...celebrities?

  2. Uh, no. Well....maybe.
    Ok. Yes.
    But less conversation than diatribe.

  3. I talk to my marlena dietrich photo above the mirror in my bedroom from time to time. she gives good advice and really helps me on my bitter day. Who do you speak with?

  4. Does rehearsing an acceptance speech (ostensibly in front of a crowd of celebrities) count?

  5. Yes, speeches count.

I often start out with an interview. Used to Oprah, sometimes Ellen, now it's mostly Craig Ferguson. That generally morphs. I talk to anyone. Lee Tergesen, Josh Jackson, Kate Moennig, Aaron Sorkin, Holly Hunter, Kenny Johnson, Harvey Weinstein, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Scott Patterson, James Marsters. Really, almost anyone.

I think I got the idea from reading Starring Sally J. Freedman As Herself but I've gone way beyond those parameters. I mean, really, what do you do if you're on a long walk and you don't have a conversation like that to keep you occupied?

  6. I'll admit that I have imaginary conversations with all kinds of people, including celebrities. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

  7. Does yelling at the t.v. count?

I talk to ghosts all the time, but I don't think that's in the spirit of what you were asking (get it? Spirit? Damn, I'm good!).

  8. A little to the left. Yes! Right there! A little harder. Yep. Now, faster. Perfect! Keep going. Then I'll return the favor and we'll cuddle and fall asleep and you can get up in time to make it to set in the morning.

    Like that?

  9. hm...I would have to say Nyet, on this one.

I do have extended conversations in my head, which are revised real-life conversations.

In said extended conversations, I say the right things, make my point heard, express my pissed-offness and walk away victorious.
