Yeah, mother nature isn't in love with us right now. I just watched a family trying to extricate their car from under a tree this morning. They seemed surprised.
I told Talaura that I hoped her Oklahoma training kicked in but then realized what we Oklahomans actually do when there's a tornado coming. We go outside and watch head for our homes. And video tape it. And for some reason we're usually wearing wife beater's and no shoes.
Absolutely not. Sometimes we get a few limbs down but this is nuts. A friend said the devastation in the park is the worst she's seen in the 13 years she's lived here. I just tweeted a link you should check out. HORSESHOE CRABS landed in a part of Brooklyn that's nowhere NEAR water. On a sidewalk. Weird.
We do go outside and watch it head for our house. But first? we open a bottle of wine, and facebook what the weather fools are doing...which is as close to having an orgasim on television as you can get without paying for it.
There are 2 or 3, I think 3, churches near where I used to live in the Slope that didn't have steeples because they were torn off by tornadoes, so Brooklyn has seen some nasty tornadoes in the past - just not every year.
I know it's cliche, but *sigh.*
ReplyDeleteNew York in the rain.
